How can you recognise this group?
S-1 is a general signal; S-2 has an extra chamber with a conditional green arrow. Other signals may apply only to a direction or road-user group.
How do they work on the road?
Operating traffic lights take priority over signs regulating right of way. Directions given by a person controlling traffic remain superior to light signals.
- Determine which lane, direction or road user the signal applies to.
- Do not pass a signal if you cannot clear the junction.
- At S-2, stop and continue only after ensuring that you will not obstruct traffic.
- Follow a traffic controller's directions before signals and signs.
