How can you recognise this group?

These are mainly rectangular boards with names, road numbers and arrows. The background colour helps identify the road type or direction concerned.

How do they work on the road?

A board may announce a junction, point out a direction at it or confirm a route. Read the arrow, destination and road designation together.

  • Choose your lane before a solid line prevents a safe lane change.
  • Read the road number together with the direction and background colour.
  • A locality name does not provide information about right of way.
  • During a diversion, follow consecutive signs until you return to the route.

What should you watch for in the exam?
