How can you recognise this group?
This group includes red-and-white distance marker posts and St Andrew's crosses placed before railway crossings.
How do they work on the road?
The posts mark successive stages of approach; a St Andrew's cross marks an ungated crossing and indicates the track arrangement.
- Reduce speed so that you can stop before the crossing.
- Do not enter unless there is enough space to continue on the far side.
- Never pass lowered or lowering barriers and never ignore red signals.
- Make sure another train is not approaching after the first one.
